Our Activities

Since education is key to empower people, it remains one of the top priorities of the Trust. Even before the Trust was registered, the Trustees have been actively involved for the past eight months in conducting free coaching classes every day in the evening. There are about 140 children from KG to class 8 attending the coaching. They are from Palashbani as well as from the neighboring villages too. They are taught by 12 youth of the village who have offered to teach the village children on a voluntary basis. Besides this, we are planning to run a regular matric coaching for the drop-out students of different classes. For those who are from far away villages and do not have a proper study atmosphere at home Since computer education is very important today, we plan to impart computer education too for the educated village youth. For those who can pursue their studies, we are also planning to conduct periodic career guidance and prepare them for competitive exams like Railways, Bank, State/National Public Service Commission, etc. For those who may not be able to pursue their studies, we are planning to empower them with some skill or vocational training like that of an electrician, mechanic, fashion designer, tailor, musician, artist, etc.

We have been Empowerment of women remains another top priority of the Trust. We have been involved in the creating and animating the women self-help groups through meetings and training programs. We are working with 12 SHGs at present and are planning to expand it to other villages too. They meet every week for their co-operative thrift and credit purpose. By way of empowering them further, we initiated an SHG to open a village grocery shop. It is our dream to enable other SHGs too to become entrepreneurs for self-help and livelihood generation activities such as paper plate making, oil extraction, sewing, hotel, grocery, joint cultivation, pickle & pappad, candle & agarbatti, soap making, khadaknath, poultry for meat and eggs, vegetable shop, oil seeds, mushroom, livestock and animal husbandry. We like to promote village industries through such activities. All these activities need resources, periodic training and marketing strategies, which we plan to provide for them.

  2. Entrepreneurship (self-help and livelihood Generation activities) like paper plate making, oil extraction, sewing, hotel, grocery, joint cultivation, pickle & pappad, candle & agarbatti, soap making, khadaknath, poultry for meat and eggs, vegetable shop, oil seeds, animal husbandry, mushroom.

Labor Facilitation and Placement:

Migrant workers and daily laborers is one of the primary target groups of the Trust. Jamshedpur being an industrial hub in Jharkhand, lakhs of people throng the labor market every morning. Some of them are migrants and some others travel a distance of 30 to 40 kms by shared auto or bike every day.  About 60% of this population do not get a job for the day and they go back home empty handed. Though Govt has many welfare schemes for them, they are not educated enough to come to know about these and avail of their entitlements. Neither do they have knowledge about their govt stipulated minimum wages. Hence, our Trust has set up a facilitation center for them, through which we mediate for them to get their aadhar card, e-Shram card, Ayushman card, etc. and claim their govt entitlements. We are already in touch with many of them and are working on creating a data base about them which can help our Trust as well other NGOs and Govt Organizations to play the intermediary role. Depending on the data collected and their need, we would like to train them in other skills such as electrician, mechanic, tailor, fashion designer, joint vegetable cultivation, etc. Those trained with skills, we will enroll them in our web-based placement center and mediate for their placement.

Healthcare:

Lack of basic healthcare is another deprivation of the basic need that the villagers are exposed to.  Though the Govt has so many health facilities, they are deprived of such facilities due to their own ignorance. Our Trust has been involved in educating the public of the govt provided basic health facilities through health camps, mobile clinics and health and hygiene issues of the adolescent girls.

Ecology and Environment

Climate change and global warming remains another important area of operation for the Trust. This is not just a local topic but a universal topic affecting the entire universe and all living beings and vegetation. As years go by, we come across the climate change taking a worse turn. Hence, it is the need of the hour that the Trust takes immediate and urgent measures to promote ecology and environment. Our Trust organized a campaign and rally in the villages to save ecology and environment. It has also been engaged in preserving natural resources like water, solar energy, forest and forest resources, pollution control, etc.

Legal Aid

Legal exploitation of the helpless poor is rampant among the labor class and hence legal the Trust has chosen to work under this theme too. The Trust plans to create legal awareness among the common people of the area.  We plan to conduct legal awareness camps, training programs and provide legal aid to the poor on issues of human rights violation and exploitation, displacement of the people without proper compensation and under trial prisoners who have been taken under custody for no fault of theirs.

Welfare Programs

Along with the above-mentioned acts of intervention, the Trust is also involved in other charitable activities like distributing dry ration of rice and dal to poor families, distributing notebooks, pens, pencils, slates and snacks for the coaching students, would also serve the physically/mentally challenged, the aged and homeless through rehabilitation centers. Along with this, the Trust would also be involved in relief and rehabilitation and assistance to those affected by natural calamities.

Rural developmental works

As the Trust is a rural-based organization, serving the civic needs of the local people will be a focus area of intervention of the trust. Thus, the Trust has already been involved in providing drinking water facility and sanitation. The Trust has already drilled a borewell for the use of the villagers. Besides, the Trust would take all efforts possible to build local communities and work for rural development by making village community centers, roads, culverts, drainage and sanitation. It would also facilitate the govt gramin yojna for the villagers.

Social change

Bringing about a social change remains key to self-empowerment of the people. With this in mind, the Trust has been working in a small way for themes such as promotion of girl child education and development, promotion of women’s participation in Gram Sabha, prevention of child labor and gender inequality, prevention of child marriage and human trafficking, prohibition of alcohol and so on. The Trust believes that in and through eradication of the evil practices in society that a positive social change can be brought about for the development of local as well as universal human society.

Local Governance

The Trust will play an active role in the local governance. It will work in close collaboration with the existing structures like Mahila Mandal, Gram Sabha, Panchayati Raj, etc. By encouraging the people to take a more active participation in these structures, the Trust would promote local governance and local self-rule.

Promote Agriculture

Since the Trust is located in an agrarian based society, it cannot but work to promote agriculture, the backbone of the local communities. Hence, the Trust will make efforts to work with the local farmers for a better produce and price. The Trust is planning to promote indigenous system of farming, organic farming, wormy compost, joint cultivation, rural grain bank, minimum assured price, etc. It is planning to promote as well as create farmer producer companies, which would pave the way for the farmers’ self-empowerment.

Tribal Identity and Welfare

Since the Trust is a Trust of the tribals, by the tribals and for the tribals, it would make all efforts possible for promotion of tribal identity, Promotion of artisans, craftsman, musicians, artists for preservation of tribal language, culture, worship and customs, Promotion of art, culture, drama, sports and games through events, tournaments and sponsorships. Over the past few months, the Trust has been actively organizing and celebrating the tribal festivals like Soharai, Hul Diwas, etc. These activities will ensure that the local tribal culture and language are promoted and people take pride in their tradition.

Collaboration with Corporates and other NGOs

Intervention in all the above-mentioned areas is not possible if the Trust were to work individually on its own. Hence, the Trust would make all efforts to join hands with others and get the support of the Corporates and other NGOs. It is in collaboration with others that the Trust may be able to realize its main objective of self-empowerment of the local people.

Justification for 12A and 80G

Ours is a rural Trust and so the local villagers cannot mobilize the resources needed to execute and carry on the multi-dimensional charitable activities. The Trust depends on external donations. Your donation will play a vital role in mobilizing the material resources to carry on its charitable works and reach out for the welfare of more and more rural people.
